Blog Post 4- Preparing for the Interview
Interview Plan:
For this assignment, I will be interviewing my brother, Josh. An ex-convict who is continuing to try and get back on his feet. Josh will be coming by the house on Saturday, and I plan for the interview to last about 30 minutes.
Interview Questions:
I have shared with Josh that I am doing a project for a communications course, and that his participation will help raise awareness for ex-convicts and hopefully help diminish the amount of stereotypes that exist.
Initial Release:
1) Did you have a pre constructed plan of what you wanted to accomplish once released?
2) What did you most look forward to after your release?
3) What was your first meal after your release?
4) Was it weird at first having so much free time?
Adjusting:
1) Was there a particular person or person(s) you stayed close to after your release? (ex: Mentor(s))
2) What was the biggest challenge/adjustment you faced outside of prison?
3) How hard was it finding work? How long did it take to finally find a job?
4) What are the biggest struggles you're still facing today?
Looking Forward:
1) What would be your advice to recently release ex-convicts?
2) What would be your advice to people who don't have criminal records that may get nervous around ex-convicts?
3) From the time you were released to now, what would you say your biggest accomplishment has been?
4) What are your goals for the future?
Conclusion:
Once I feel like each of my questions has an answer, I will ask Josh if he has any additional comments to add that he feels may be relevant. Once completed, I will again thank him for his time and ensure him that I plan to make great use of the information he shared.
