1) The microculture I have chosen to study is ex-convicts. I chose this group because I am interested to learn more about what life after prison entails, as well as what prejudices and or stereotypes ex convicts face when trying to get back on their feet.
2) To gather information, I plan to interview 1 friend and 1 sibling I know who unfortunately had to do time for the crimes that they committed.
3) To experience the culture I feel may be tough. I don't believe prisons just let people come in and tour. As a substitute, I may watch multiple videos about prison life that also include interviews from inmates.
4) I believe America's general stereotypes of ex-convicts are that they are unskilled, dangerous people who are up to no good. I also believe some American's think if you go to prison it automatically means you killed someone. We don't account for other things someone can be sent to prison for. Below I have attached a link to an article that talks about how the "box" asking if you are a felon or not encourages discrimination in the work place.

5) One thing I look forward to knowing is how long it takes for things to feel normal again? When does an ex convict actually start to feel that they are "back on their feet?"
